The purpose of this one-day (6 hour) course is to educate people who perform forklift operations on the rules, regulations and proper application of safe work practices and operating procedures involved in day-to-day activities. It is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of, or who are operating forklifts.
Upon successful completion of this course, the operator will:
» Be able to explain the difference in handling characteristics between machines having empty and loaded forks
» Be able to explain the stability triangle and center of gravity
» Conduct and/or verify a thorough inspection of the
work area, site or facility
» Be able to explain the stability triangle and center of gravity
» Be able to understand and apply load charts with relation to loads to be lifted
» Be able to explain reasons for maintaining up-to-date maintenance records, and why proper maintenance is important for safe, efficient and productive operation
» Identify the controls and their purpose, and demonstrate the proper use of controls
» Identify and explain forklift safety features and their importance
Upon successful completion of this course, participants are issued a Certificate of Recognition. This course is intended to inform and improve operator skill levels and does not certify operators as highly skilled or licensed operators.
