This half-day (4 hour) course details the basic steps to handle emergencies in the workplace. These emergencies include accidental releases of toxic gases, chemical spills, fires, explosions, and bodily harm and trauma caused by workplace violence. This course is intended to assist small businesses that do not have safety and health professionals. It is not intended as an all inclusive safety program but rather to provide guidelines for planning for emergencies.
You will learn how to develop an emergency response plan that should be comprehensive enough to deal with all types of emergencies specific to your specific site. You will learn how to implement the proper chain-of-command and sequence of steps in the case of an emergency such as:
» Assessing the situation and determining whether an emergency exists that requires activating the emergency procedures,
» Directing all efforts in the area including evacuating personnel,
» Ensuring that outside emergency services such as medical aid and local fire departments are called in when necessary,
» Directing the shutdown of operations when necessary.
Note: This course starts at 8:00 am
COST: $50.00 + GST (4 HRS)
